About Dr. Brighton Chireka

Uk Representative

Dr Brighton Chireka is the UK Diaspora representative in the Executive Committee. He has extensive health care and community leadership experience. He is currently a Clinical Lead in Child Health and Maternity Services in a UK southern county. Brighton is one of the founder members and trustee of Zimbabwe Health Training Support (ZHTS), a UK based charity supporting health training in Zimbabwe. He has long standing activism in community development initiatives within the UK Zimbabwean diaspora.

Recently, he has led the Zimbabwe Diaspora Network UK’s efforts to understand COVID -19 related risks in Zimbabweans in the UK, as part of a wider study aimed at understanding the associated risks of Black Asian and Minority Ethnic groups (BAME) health workers in the UK. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr Chireka holds a Diploma in Occupational Medicine and A Diploma from The Royal College Of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Brighton is also a member of The Royal College Of General Practitioners in the UK. He fervently subscribes to the vision of a Zimbabwe in which all people can access and benefit from excellent health care services , including those of limited means.
